Sr. Men Continue Homestead This Weekend

The Crusaders Senior Men continue their mid-summer homestand as the MPL newcomers Lindsay RFC visit this coming weekend.  The 3rd XV will also be hosting their second Friday Night Lights match of the season as they host North Halton RFC on Friday July 21st with a 7:00 pm kick-off.  The 2nd XV are in fine form and have moved to within one win away from the top of the standings.  Kick-off is at 1:30 pm.  Meanwhile the 1st XV look to build on an impressive 2nd half performance last weekend that saw them earn a thrilling comeback victory over the Markham Irish.  The 1st XV kick-off at 3:00 pm.

Also of note, Andrew Ferguson and Andrew Wilson were named to the Ontario Blues squad this weekend who take on the Atlantic Rock in Truro, Nova Scotia in their 2017 Canadian Rugby Championship opener.  As well Head Coach Rodin Lozada and Assistant Coach Mark Winokur will also be on the coaching/management staff of the Blues.  With 3rd XV Grahme Walsh also away this weekend, Nikki Corless has been appointed as Acting Head Coach with the Sr. Men’s coaching staff all away.  She will be assisted by former Crusaders Head Coach Mark Jutronich, and Director of Rugby Chris Clark.  Corless makes history as she becomes the first female to be in charge of a Marshall Premiership team in league play.

“It is unfortunate timing that all the coaches are away at the same time due to other commitments.” said Head Coach Lozada.  “But we have trained well this week and are prepared to play a very good Lindsay side.  Nikki Corless has been an invaluable addition the staff this season and I have every confidence that she will be successful as the Acting Head Coach for this weekend.”
