Saturday, June 23rd, will see our Women and 3 Crusader’s Men’s teams in action across the GTA.
Woman Make Home stand to Mississauga
The Women look to add to their dominant winning ways this weekend as they take on Mississauga at Home. Having scorelines in their previous games showing dramatic differences from their opposition – it would only make sense to expect a thrilling contest this weekend as well.
Tanisha Bryan, Kate McLellan, and Amanda Boudreau will take to the front row this weekend. Taylor Price and Rachel Van Fraassen find familiar spots in the Second Row; while Alissa Zhang, Sarah Cowle and Lindsay Peebles return to the back row in full form and ready to perform.
Emily Ricketts and Megan Paul will take to the half back roles, partnering out with Britni French and Lauren Walkden in the midfield. Juila White, Maddy Seatle, and Hannah Wasslen will cover the back three spots and hope to add to the attack this weekend as well.
On the bench: Alysia Rivando, Heather Paul, Susie Dunn, Kim Robb, Yvonne M Da Cruz, Emma Wade, and Taylour Hurd will bring an impact onto the pitch and complete the side on the day.
Fab Fours Host the Brampton Return Fixture
The Fab Fours will feature in a Crusader’s Park Clash against Brampton RFC. The fours will look to avenge the Third team who traveled up the 410 short handed on a Tuesday night and present the beavers with a vintage, veteran showing of crusader rugby. If you have never been to a Fab Four Game, Saturday is an excellent opportunity to begin that tradition. Kick off is slated for 1:30PM at Crusader’s Park.
First and Seconds Away to Toronto Scottish.
The remaining senior teams take their talents to the Square to face off against powerhouse Toronto Scottish.
The Second team are coming off a thrilling One point decision against the Beach, and will look to continue both their winning streak and playing their brand of young, systematic rugby.
The Cameron Brothers will anchor the front row on both sides again, while Josh Puddefoot keeps to the No.2 Jersey. Veteran Second Row pairing of Matt Borris and Aaron Mimnagh will re-feature this weekend as well. Callan Yan, Dillion Downer and Rohan Goswami will complete the pack at the rear.
Joey Scrivo and John Varriano will re-take the halfback roles, and link up with Mike Sutherland and Brandon Rawson in the centers. Liam MacNeil, Kanishka Almeida and Taylor Palmer will see time in the backfield.
Chris Arnold, Cam Haslam, Dominic Johnson, Jimmy Sun, and Nathan Woods will make up the replacements for the Twos.
The first team will again select a similar side as the last few weeks as they look to keep building on their success and limit the opportunities for setbacks. Though dropping a result to the Beach at Home, it’s onto the next challenge this week for the men in black.
Ryan Toor, Stephen Lockhart and Noah Morton resume their front row duties. Chris Reid and Tristan Ruse will see action in the lock shirts, while Cam Sandison, Ethan Sanders, and Andrew MacDonald pack down in the back row.
Josh Englebrecht will move to his familiar place at scrum half to start this week, along side Andrew Wilson at 10. Jamie Leveridge and Brad watts occupy the midfield, with Matt Nicol, Graham Dobbs and Grayson Perry rounding out the starting 15.
Mike and Kevin Cameron, with Scott Delaney will provide Front Row coverage on the bench. Matt Borris and Dillion Downer will cover the Second/Back Row spots. Kanishka Almeida, Joey Scrivo, and Returning club stalwart Grant Schneider will make up the back replacements.
Head Coach Rodin Lozada maintains his optimism this week as he prepares the guys for their fixtures – understanding what both what lies ahead to the weekend and what the Men are capable of.
“We have a real challenge this weekend facing one of the top sides in the province.” shares Lozada. “It will be a real test of our progress to see how we compare to a championship team like the Toronto Scottish”
Show some love this weekend for your Senior Teams – with action all across the GTA, we all look forward to seeing the black and gold faithful out in full force.
