Try Rugby Days

Try Rugby days are free, no-obligation sessions where kids and adults can come out, give rugby a go, and see what the Crusaders community is all about. They’re open to everyone, whether you’ve never picked up a rugby ball before or you’re returning after some time away. If you’re completely new to the club or rugby, here’s a quick primer.

Each session includes:

  • A fun warm-up and simple rugby skills (running, passing, catching, playing into space)
  • Age-appropriate games – non-contact flag rugby for younger players, and controlled, beginner-friendly activities for older age groups
  • A chance to meet our volunteer coaches, players and other families
  • Time for parents and participants to ask questions about programs, equipment, schedules and next steps

You don’t need any experience or special gear to attend – just running shoes, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. We’ll provide the rugby balls and the encouragement.

Parents regularly tell us that Crusaders is “an excellent place to increase a child’s overall skill development, knowledge of the game and level of fitness,” and Try Rugby is the perfect way to experience that for yourself in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

All of our programs can accommodate complete beginners as well as more experienced players, and many of our current athletes – from Minis right up to Senior Men and Women – started by coming to a Try Rugby day.
