Elevating our Game: Welcome Rodin “Koko” Lozada as Our New Senior Women’s Head Coach

As part of our club’s steadfast commitment to growing, supporting, and elevating our women’s rugby program, we are thrilled to announce the appointment of Rodin “Koko” Lozada as our new Senior Women’s Head Coach.

Koko is a prominent and highly respected figure in the Canadian rugby community. He brings a wealth of elite-level experience, technical expertise, and a proven track record of championship success that will be instrumental in taking our senior women’s program to the next level.

From the MLR to Our Touchlines Most recently, Koko served as the Lead Performance Analyst and Video Analyst for the Toronto Arrows. He was a foundational member of the team’s staff, starting from its early days as the privately-funded Ontario Arrows club program in 2018 under Director of Rugby Chris Silverthorn, right through to its years competing professionally in Major League Rugby (MLR).

In his role with the Arrows, Koko’s technical expertise was front and center. He specialized in breaking down match film, analyzing team and opposition statistics, and collaborating closely with the coaching staff to optimize player performance and tactical game planning. He also brings vital national-level experience, having supported Rugby Canada as an analyst during elite national training camps and working with various national squads.

A Deeply Rooted Coaching Footprint While his analytical resume is world-class, Koko is a coach through and through—and he knows exactly what it takes to win in Ontario. He was recently inducted into the Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame as part of the coaching group for the historic Irish Canadian Rugby Club era (1999–2008), which secured multiple domestic championships.

His footprint in the provincial game is massive. Over the years, he has served as the video and performance analyst for the Ontario Blues senior men’s team, and has served as the Senior Men’s coach for notable Ontario clubs like the Crusaders and Markham Irish Canadian.

Most importantly for our program, Koko has a rich history of success specifically in the women’s game. He has previously coached both the Ontario Senior Women and the Ontario U19 Women’s provincial teams. At the club level, his leadership has translated directly into hardware, winning the prestigious OWL Cup on three separate occasions while coaching the Yeomen Women and Irish Canadian Women.

Building a Championship Culture What makes Koko the perfect fit for our club at this moment is his coaching philosophy. He is a passionate leader dedicated to developing players, building a strong team culture, and helping athletes reach their absolute full potential.

Koko brings an energetic and player-focused approach that is anchored in the core values of rugby: discipline, teamwork, resilience, respect, and accountability. He believes that successful teams are built not only through technical and tactical development but through trust, communication, and a shared commitment to one another.

Our players can look forward to an environment where they feel supported, challenged, and empowered to grow both on and off the field. Under Koko’s guidance, the focus will be on strong fundamentals, intelligent decision-making, elite physical preparation, playing with purpose, and most importantly, maintaining a positive and inclusive culture where every player understands their role and contributes to the group’s success.
