At Crusaders Rugby Club, we believe that rugby is for everyone. Building a strong, united community means making sure every athlete who wants to step onto the pitch has the opportunity to do so, regardless of their financial situation.
That’s why we want to remind our community about the Crusaders Players Fund—a dedicated financial assistance program designed to break down barriers, attract new athletes to the club and keep our players in the game.
What is the Crusaders Players Fund?
Generously funded by our parents, alumni, and community members (and administered by the Ontario Sport Network), this charitable fund provides scholarships and financial aid to athletes facing financial constraints. This fund was generously seeded by the organizers and attendees of the 2025 Summer Ball and is intended to support members of our club and the broader community with financial assistance.
Whether you are a brand-new family looking to try rugby for the first time or a returning player eager for the upcoming season, this fund is here to support you.
What Does the Fund Cover?
The primary goal of the fund is to help cover core club membership dues (for U6 through Senior spring/summer/autumn core rugby).
Who Should Apply?
Any player (or their family) who demonstrates a desire to play but faces financial barriers that limit their access to the sport. Funding is made available on the basis of need.
Note for players under 18: We ask that you first explore community grants through the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program and/or KidSport. If you are ineligible for those programs, or if they don’t cover your full needs, you are strongly encouraged to apply directly to the Crusaders Players Fund!
How to Apply
We know that asking for financial help can sometimes feel daunting. Please be assured that all applications are assessed in strict confidence by a small, dedicated committee.
- Get the Form: Head over to the Financial Assistance section on our Registration page to download the application form.
- Gather Documents: Collect the brief supporting documentation outlined in the application.
- Submit: Email your completed form and documents to secretary@crusadersrugby.ca with the subject line: “Financial Support Application”.
Important Deadlines
- Priority Deadline: Please submit your application by April 15. (Initial award decisions will be made before April 22).
- Rolling Applications: Missed the April 15 target? Please still apply! You can complete the application process at any time, and there may still be opportunities to receive assistance as long as funding remains available for the year.
